Welcome to Year 6
Mrs Rixon
Year 6 Road Safety Day - Monday 28th January
The children were asked to dress up in the brighest clothes they had and there was a special assembly and activities organised by Year 6.
Year 6 is always a busy one, full of new experiences, challenges and fun. I am looking forward to teaching the children this term. I shall expect them to work hard but also try to ensure they take with them some life-long memories from Woodbridge Primary School. The children in Year 6 are given greater responsibilities within the school and are offered many oppotunities as they come their way.
Equipment Needed:
Pencil case - Pencil, ruler, sharpener, rubber, calculator
Water Bottle
PE Kit - Black shorts, plain white t-shirt, trainers, socks, plain, dark tracksuit
Swimming Kit - Swimming will begin on Friday 14th September and each child will need trunks/one piece swimsuit, hat and towel (goggles may only be worn on receipt of written activities/certificate testing)
Lunch Boxes - Which are stored in a box in the classroom
Art shirt
Homework Expected:
Your child is expected to keep his/her reading diary up to date by making entries three times weekly. These will be monitored regularly. Please feel free to make comments in the diaries if you wish. Your child will also bring home a maths game every Thursday, to play with you or other family members, or they will be asked to evaluate a game from the internet. Please ensure that these are returned every Thursday for exchange, and please make your comments in the diary provided.
SATs:
Next May your children will take SATs (Statutory Assesment Test) tests in English, Maths and Science to assess their academic abilities. At Woodbridge Primary School we work hard to strike a proper balance between pupils being well prepared in order that they perform to the best of their abilities, but without putting them under unnecessary pressure.
